Bob Rouleau

Every club has members that come and members that go. However, occasionally, someone joins a club and has a huge impact on the club. Bob Rouleau was that person. Unfortunately, on Friday 12 November Rennsport lost a hard-working member. Many of you know Bob from the Divers’ Education program but he has filled many key roles not directly associated with the track. Yes, Bob joined PCA in 1994 and quicky joined the Drivers’ Education program. Track drivers know Bob as an organizer but also an instructor always willing to take the time to coach any driver that asks for his help. He was a fast, smooth always with impeccable etiquette. The Divers’ Education team has lost a key player.

As I mentioned earlier Bob has filled many other roles within Rennsport. In the mid 1990s he joined the Rennsport board of directors; starting a simple board member but progressing to become the Driving Events Director and finally as the club Treasurer. Many was a monthly meeting that went late into the night as very important issues were discussed. Sometimes these discussions got quite heated. Bob was not shy about conveying his side of a discussion. Another of Bob’s important roles was to represent Rennsport during the two annual meeting of all the PCA clubs (18) in Zone 1. Sometimes Bob went alone or with a small group of Rennsporters. As always, he had big impact on these meetings.

Bob retired from the board last autumn. Bob may no longer be on the Rennsport executive or part of the Track Organizing team but thankfully his presence and influence will be there for years to come.

The Rennsport executive would like to acknowledge Bob contribution to our club and send out our deepest sympathies to the entire Rouleau family.

Approved helmets for the 2021 DE season

PCA and most driving clubs, recommend the use of current SNELL SA rated Helmets or their equivalent BSI and SFI counterparts. SNELL certifications are for a ten-year period. SNELL certified 2020 helmets are now available at retail outlets. Therefore SNELL SA and SM 2010 helmets will no longer be accepted at Rennsport events.  This rule is applicable to all PCA regional driving events.

As of 2021, ONLY SNELL and 2015-2020 or their equivalent BSI and SFI certified helmets will be permitted.

For the Rennsport 2021 DE season, each driver participating in the Drivers Education program must wear a helmet meeting the following Safety Helmet Standards:

  1. SNELL Foundation Helmets rated: SA2015 or SA2020 (recommended)
  2. Equivalent British Standards Institute (BSI): BS6658-85 type A/FR
  3. Equivalent SFI Foundation Inc. Helmets rated: SFI 31.1A

At the first event attended in the 2021 season, and all subsequent events, you are requested to bring your Helmet to the Tech Line for inspection.  A Sticker will be affixed to indicate your helmet meets requirements for 2020 and future DE events.

Please do not hesitate contacting us if you have further questions at DrivingEvents@Rennsport.ca
